I call myself a blogger because I still find happiness in writing about my styling and travel stories on the blog more than any other social media platform. There is no denying the fact that Instagram is a highly creative platform where I’ve learnt a lot and got to connect with a wider audience, but blogging is the main reason why I am on it in the first place. I love sharing my thoughts paired with a set of outfit pictures on the blog as I am never satisfied with sharing just one picture of my outfit on Instagram.

Sadly, the recent times have not been very encouraging with blogs being pushed aside for just social media. I mean I have absolutely nothing against the Instagrammers but it is discouraging when brands focus only on the numbers and expect bloggers who actually work hard on writing articles and not just a picture, to attend an event just for social media publicity. Personally, I love to spend my time planning blog content and it gives me immense happiness whenever I publish a new article. Yes you can tell a story via Instagram too but I prefer reading articles narrating a story or writer’s mood in a comprehensive manner, the old school way.

I enjoy reading the idea behind an outfit styling, unique travel experiences or beauty favourites and fads. I believe the most I have got to know about any blogger whom I have never met in person is through their written work on the blog. Whenever I am reading an article, it automatically transports me into that world. How else would I explain the connection I feel reading through Chriselle’s posts or secretly indulging in the articles over at Bruised Passports for whenever I am in the mood to travel!

What I really want to say here is that the struggle to keep up with the ever changing face of blogging industry has been real but I am slowly moving into a zone where I want to stick doing things I genuinely love. I feel more liberated creatively, now that I do not feel the pressure of depending on something that is fickle (like Instagram!). Blogging is my passion and I might have gotten a little lost on the way but I am focussing my energy into improving myself and my craft and creating more! So here’s to all those who are sailing in the same boat as me, don’t worry, we got this!

Love

    • It is never good if we depend on something that we cannot control. We must look into enhancing what we have, that is our blogs. 🙂

  • really love your article. I can relate with everything that you wrote. As much as it is easy to get side-tracked with all the glory of Instagram, we should remember that it does not belong to us to begin with and we can never control its algorithm. Blog, on the other hand, is something that we own and we can shape and design it as we wish. Here’s to doing what we love!!

    P/s: love your outfit!!!!
