Seen everywhere from fashion runways to streets, Velvet is certainly one of the hottest fall winter fashion trends for 2016. It feels incredible to see this classic 90’s trend making a comeback, specially when you have grown looking at the pretty velvet suits in your mother’s closet and secretly wishing to get one yourself. I feel no shame in confessing my love for Velvet and Bomber jackets at the moment and this post is a dedication to the same.
Velvet looks and feels so rich whereas Bomber jackets bring out the fun quotient. When weaved together, both create a story so close to my heart that I see myself happily embracing it. If you have read my previous post here, you would know how badly I wanted to get my hands on velvet anything! It looks vintage and all the more chic! This slogan top in grey is a fun addition to my wardrobe and I decided to pair it with my high waist trousers and high heels for a classy carefree look.
The thing with wearing something that is too flashy or shiny is to keep other elements in your look subtle. Also make sure you are not committing a faux pas by wearing velvet on a wrong(hot) day or to a wrong place(don’t ever mix it with your office wear, unless you want your boss to deliberately throw you out of office! ha!). Velvet is for parties, for fun weekends full of shopping or lazy but stylish brunches. On that note, expect another party look coming your way soon after, featuring yet another sexy velvet number!
Alright, In case you are still not comfortable dressing up in velvet, begin with accessories. We have boots, mules, chokers and bags to name a few but then what is fashion without some fun. So go ahead and get yourself a soft velvet slip dress, pair it with a t-shirt and sneakers and voila! Or have fun recreating my look but don’t forget to add a bomber jacket for that extra sass! Until next time.
