So last week when I was in London, a friend and I decided to check out the newly launched Fenty Beauty by Rihanna currently available at Harvey Nichols store in Knightsbridge. We decided to go there in the evening but it was only after we reached that we noticed a long queue outside the store to checkout Fenty Beauty. I immediately decided to leave but obliged to my friend who really wanted to try it out and I was secretly excited too so couldn’t leave. We stood in the queue for about an hour and a half before getting inside just 20 minutes before the store closed! So imagine our level of excitement and we even made friends while waiting in the queue discussing our mutual love for Riri and this first-in-our-life experience!
The Fenty Beauty counter inside Harvey Nichols is pretty compact and I could understand the need for a queue outside to let the shoppers have a smooth experience but what the hell! Anyway, I swatched a few shades and after 3 tries found a perfect match for my skin tone. The categorization of light, medium, tan and deep is really helpful to narrow down the choice. If you are shopping online do not forget to check it out for reference.
I got just the foundation to begin with but I really wish I had purchased the dual highlighter too. I have used the foundation about 5 times now and each time I put it on my face, I fall in love with the finish. This made it all the more important for me to talk about it here on the blog in case any of my readers are planning to buy it. So let’s get to the point.
Below are some pictures for you to see how this foundation look on me under different lights and a detailed review later.
Riri has named this one the PRO FILT’R soft matte longwear foundation. A soft matte, longwear foundation with buildable, medium to full coverage, in a boundary-breaking range of 40 shades. It gives skin an instantly smooth, pore-diffused, shine-free finish that easily builds to medium to full coverage. The oil-free formula is made with climate-adaptive technology that’s resistant to sweat and humidity, and won’t clog pores so that wherever you are, it’s going to work on your skin. Best of all, this longwearing, light-as-air texture is undetectable on skin —so you always look like you.
The foundation comes in a sturdy glass bottle in matte finish giving it a luxe look and has a pump dispenser.
This 32 ml foundation bottle is priced at 26 GBP.
My Experience with Fenty beauty PRO FILT’R soft matte longwear foundation
I got the shade 260 and I am NC42 in Mac, just for your reference. At first I found it a tad lighter but was surprised to see how it matched my skin tone after some time. (I took a selfie under the sun on my iphone camera and did not feel the need to use any filter!) It gives a medium to full coverage and you can build it up if required. It did feel a little dry at first but not after I prepped my skin well with a moisturizer and primer.
The application is smooth as the product is easy to blend in. It takes about 3 pumps to cover my entire face using a beauty blender and you can totally customize the coverage depending on your need. As the name suggests, this foundation feels really light and gives a matte finish which stays on for long.
I had earlier talked about how good The Ordinary foundation is and still feel the same about it. There is no better product at the given price point but Fenty beauty has a huge (40 to be precise) range of shades available to cater to every possible skin tone on earth. It has a matte formula which is perfect for oily skin but I am not sure if it works the same for dry skin. Although the product claims to adapt to individual skin type.
I can’t tell if I am going to repurchase the foundation as I would like to try different products from the line. Infact Fenty beauty just announced the launch of its Holiday collection in October and I am excited to see what’s in there! But as of now I am super happy to have spent money on this foundation.
I hope you found the review useful and do let me know if you are planning to buy it!
